HOFFMAN
Senior Vice President
Karen
Hoffman is Senior Vice President of The Bradford
Group, a New York-based Marketing/
Advertising/Public Relations Company, with
extensive experience in tourism promotion and
special events. Karen has been responsible for
developing marketing strategies for a diverse range
of clients including Corinthia Hotels
International, The Tanzania Tourist Board, The
InterContinental Hotels Africa, The Venezuelan
Tourism Corporation, Avensa Airlines, Finland
Promotion Board and Aerolineas
Argentinas.
Karen created and initiated the
"World Tourism Award" on behalf of Reed Travel
Exhibitions and co-sponsors American Express and
the International Herald Tribune, presented
annually at World Travel Market, London. Now in its
eighth year, the Award ceremony is featured on
opening day of World Travel Market London and
advertised and promoted in the International Herald
Tribune global edition.
As Director of Media Relations
for the International Institute of Peace Through
Tourism (IIPT) Karen is responsible for the
worldwide promotion and marketing of its global
summits, including the first Global Summit on Peace
Through Tourism, Amman, Jordan, November 2000; and
its regional conferences in Africa.
As Public Relations and Press
Director for the American Tourism Society (ATS),
Karen was responsible for organizing the press
groups that covered the Annual Spring Conference in
Budapest (March 2004) and Jordan (2005).
Karen is a member of the
International Board of Directors of the Africa
Travel Association (ATA) and also serves as ATA
Director of Public Affairs and Press. She was
responsible for launching the ATA Magazine and high
profile and in-depth web site. www.africa-ata.org.
In May 2002, Karen received ATA's Annual Award for
"Outstanding Achievement in the Promotion of
Responsible Tourism to the Continent of Africa,"
presented in Conakry, Guinea. October 2002, she
chaired a panel on private sector investment at
Tanzania's first Tourism Investment Forum,
organized by the Multilateral Investment Guarantee
Agency (MIGA), a World Bank Group, in Dar es
Salaam, Tanzania.
Karen was a guest speaker on
Tourism at the annual Harvard Business School
Conference on Africa, February, 2004 and is a guest
lecturer at the New York University Tisch School
for Hospitality, Tourism and Travel
Administration.
In China, Karen was a speaker on
the panel "Future Trends in Tourism Marketing," at
the first World Summit on Tourism Marketing
organized by the World Trade University, in
Nanjing, November, 2004. Karen has a BA
in Political Science from Boston University; a
Master's in Travel & Tourism Administration,
New School for Social Research, New York; and has
completed the Advanced Management Program, Cornell
University Hotel School. Karen is a member of the
Cornell Society of Hotelmen; a Board Member of the
Academy of Travel & Tourism; and a member of
the American Tourism Society.
